Visionary Padmashree Shri Jagdishbhai Patel
Visionary Padmashree Shri Jagdishbhai Patel was the founder secretary of the National Association for the Blind Gujarat. Jagdishbhai was a visionary, and he was instrumental in establishing many well-known organizations. The National Association for the Blind was also one of the associations where he played a key role. In 1950, he came to Gujarat and started social work for the blind. Later on, in 1964, he established one of the most active State branch of the National Association for the Blind India, that is, the National Association for the blind Gujarat. It was his vision that to reach in the remote villages, one should establish district branches, and he established the first district branch of the National Association for the blind in Gujarat as a National Association for the blind Rajkot district branch.

National Association for the Blind - Gujarat
The National Association for the Blind was started in Mumbai on 19 January 1952. This national level organization wanted to expand its services to the visually impaired, when the National Association for the Blind Gujarat State Branch was established in 1964 in Ahmedabad under the patronage of Dr. Jagdishbhai Patel.
